Fifth and Sixth Editions of History and Historians

I checked both editions of "History and Historians" to discover that the first five chapters are exactly the same! Here is the difference: The Sixth edition has an additional chapter, Chapter 7 "Culture Wars, Postmodernism, and Other Issues," and the chapter on reading, writing and research in the new edition is Chapter 8. In the older edition the chapter on reading, writing, and research is Chapter 6. So, for next week's assignment, skip Chapter 7 and read Chapter 8.

We will discuss this wrinkle in class tomorrow night.
See you then!

Discussion Questions

A Hist 301 student stopped by my office today to ask a question about the discussion question assignments. She wanted to know if she could answer each question separately. Or, did I want a narrative? You can answer each question separately but do write complete sentences and construct paragraphs. Do not submit outlines or a journal entry where you would reflect upon what you have read. Answer each question directly. Believe or not, this information provides an important foundation for the assignments you will complete the second half of the semester.

Keep in mind that the discussion questions are designed to help you prepare for class discussions, and we will go through each question in class.

Workshop Questions

The workshop questions are organizing questions for the class discussion and not something you need to answer beforehand. Great question! I don't think I made the distinction clear in class.
